I have been the biggest advocate of StepOn bindings from their infancy. Coming off a debilitating illness, convenience became critically important to me, and the Burton staff literally made a miracle happen with the introduction of that binding. As my condition improved, so did the performance of the StepOn bindings, but I still felt that the system (as convenient as it was) could become a better replication of what I was accustomed to. Along with damn near every Burton team rider, I am a disciple of Speed Zone lacing on my boots and a conventional ratchet ankle strap holding my boot down. That is what I asked for and that is what I got. The StrapOn boot is nothing more than a well-executed StepOn evolution mirroring the conventional system that we all love. As with conventional bindings, I loosen the ankle straps after every run and cinch them at the top of every run to the exact tension I want. This process takes just a couple of seconds, but optimizes comfort on the ride up and performance on the shred down.
