Scarpa took its big-mountain, all-muscle driver, the Freedom SL alpine touring ski boot, and tuned it up to create the Freedom RS. They re-tuned the cuff in a stiffer polyamide material for less lateral flex and more control, then bumped the forward flex up to 130 and used a custom, thermo-moldable liner in the lower and a race-inspired, reinforced upper. The Mountain Plus sole mates with tech-style bindings but can be swapped for the “Piste,” a straight-up alpine sole. Overall, great range of movement in walk mode, more control, and the same reliable hardware as on the SL. We love spot-on gear advancements!
